In response to the record number of home foreclosures filed in Massachusetts during 2006, state legislators and housing experts are eagerly seeking new reforms in existing legislation that would seek to provide homeowners with more options when faced with an impending foreclosure.
Many attribute this sudden spike in foreclosures to the proliferation of sub-prime and adjustable rate mortgages, which provide loans to borrowers with bad credit and little money to put towards a down payment. Thomas Wellner, President and CEO of Therapure BioPharma Inc. and Christian Béchon, President and CEO of LFB S.A. announce that a development services contract has been concluded between Therapure Biopharma Inc. and LFB Biotechnologies, a subsidiary of LFB SA, for the development of a manufacturing method for an innovative plasma therapeutic protein.
Therapure will apply its experience and knowledge in therapeutic protein development to develop a manufacturing process to enable the large scale production of this important biologic for clinical trials. The project, which is being jointly managed by research and development teams from the two companies, is expected to yield a novel treatment for a serious illness which currently has limited treatment options.
