Research* from car insurance provider SGIO has revealed WA drivers are more likely to admit to speeding than drivers in the eastern states, despite persistent road safety warnings.

According to the survey, nearly three quarters of WA drivers (71 per cent) still admit to speeding, compared with 59 per cent of drivers nation-wide.

SGIO State Manager Colin Tierney said the results were of a concern with speeding generally considered to be the biggest problem on WA roads.

"It's a concern that many drivers are deliberately ignoring road safety messages and put their own lives and those of passengers and other road users at risk," said Mr Tierney.
