World's Largest Conference on the Commercialization of Semantic Technology and Web 3.0 Announces 2008 Call for Presentations

Amidst an explosion of commercially-viable semantic technologies, Semantic Universe (a joint venture of Wilshire Conferences and Semantic Arts) announces the call for presentations for their 4th annual Semantic Technology Conference, May 18-22 at the Fairmont San Jose, in San Jose, California. Building on the success of the 2007 event--the largest event ever dedicated to the commercialization of semantic technologies and the Semantic Web--the 2008 conference takes its cue from current research detailing the exponential growth of the semantic market. Gearing up to provide business and technology professionals with the most up-to-the-minute information on the emerging opportunities derived from semantic technologies, the 2008 event highlights the wide-spread effects this third stage of the semantic wave will have on business, technology, and on the one billion global Internet consumers.

The 2007 Semantic Technology Conference, also held in San Jose, featured over 100 sessions (including 24 case studies), 130 expert speakers, more than 800 professionals, and drew the biggest names in information technology and business alike. Keynote speakers, presenting in an interactive-panel format, included Robert Shimp, Oracle; Richard Mark Soley, Object Management Group; Dave Beckett, Yahoo!; and Tom Ilube, Garlik, and joined tutorial, conference session, and community of practice presenters representing IBM, CIA, GE Global Research, Hewlett Packard, Oracle, BAE Systems, Modus Operandi, World Bank, and the MITRE Corp among dozens of other industry leaders.

Continuing the focus on the commercial capabilities of semantic technology, specific themes to be addressed in the 2008 agenda include the following:

Foundational Topics

Semantic Web

Ontology Concepts

Business Ontologies

Taxonomies

Semantic Integration

Data Integration and Mashups

Unstructured Information

Semantic Query

Semantic Search

Semantic Case Studies and Web 3.0

Semantic Rules

Semantics for Enterprise Information Management (EIM)

Knowledge Engineering and Management

Semantic SOA (Service Oriented Architectures)

Collaboration and Social Networks

With the buzz surrounding semantic technology and the increasing popularity of the event, competition for presentation slots will likely be even greater than last year. According to Tony Shaw, President of Wilshire Conferences, "There's a lot of wonderful new development work going on in the semantic space right now, for both Enterprise and Internet applications. SemTech has been a showcase for this work since our inception and we plan again to include the most compelling case study applications in the 2008 program."

The Call For Presentations will remain open until November 30, 2007.
